Update: 15.11.23

The Europa League has taken a pause for the international break but after four rounds of group fixtures, Liverpool sit firmly at the summit of the Group E table. Jurgen Klopp’s men slipped up in their last Europa League match when losing 3-2 away to Toulouse last week, however they sit two points of the French outfit and are almost assured of a place in the knockout stages of the tournament. Indeed, despite losing their last European outing, the Reds remain firm favourites to go all the way this season and claim this piece of silverware at a best price of 3/1. This would send them through to next season’s Champions League, a handy back-up should they fail to finish in the top four of the Premier League at the end of 2023/24.

Next in the betting for the Europa League trophy are Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen who are the only side in the tournament with a 100% perfect record. After four rounds of fixtures, Leverkusen haven’t dropped a single point and sit at the summit of Group H with twelve points to their name. The bookmakers fancy the chances of the Bundesliga side going all the way this season with most firms going a best price of 9/1 that they hold aloft the Europa League trophy in a few months’ time.

Roma come next in the outright market at a best price of 14/1, the Serie A side sitting second in Group G but level on points with leaders Slavia Prague after four rounds of fixtures. Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion are also in second position in their group but despite this they are fourth favourites for the trophy at best odds of 16/1, ahead of fellow EPL side West Ham United who are a general 20/1 shot.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League qualifying campaign was a straightforward affair, three straight wins culminating in a thorough 7-2 thrashing of Israeli side Maccabi Haifa at the start of October. They opened their group campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Linz ASK last week and ahead of tonight’s trip to Antwerp, they sit top of Group J with goal-difference separating them from tonight’s opponents.

Given their solid start to both their domestic and European campaigns, Tottenham Hotspur are the bookies’ choice for lifting the Europa League trophy this season with most firms going 5/1 that they do so. Indeed the 2018/19 Champions League finalists would dearly love to haul themselves back into the top-tier European club competition for next season and this tournament provides them with an alternative route.

North London rivals Arsenal are also being backed for European glory this season, the Gunners a general 6/1 shout for the Europa League trophy. With no qualifying rounds needing to be negotiated, Mikel Arteta’s men opened their account with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Rapid Wien and as things stand they sit second to table-topping Molde on goal-difference in Group B.

AC Milan are next in the betting at a general 8/1 to win the competition while the Premier League contingent is completed by Leicester City who are 14/1 for the trophy. North of the border, Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers are 50/1 to win the Europa League while arch-rivals Celtic are way out at 80/1.
