Some bookies have suspended the ‘Next Arsenal Manager’ betting market now that the pressure has been eased significantly on current incumbent Mikel Arteta. The Gunners had endured their worst start to a season since 1974/75, however back-to-back wins over Chelsea (3-1) and Brighton & Hove Albion (0-1) have improved the mood at the Emirates Stadium and some bookies now go as much as 8/1 that Mikel Arteta will be the next managerial casualty in the top flight.
Indeed with Arsenal one of the favourites to win this season’s Europa League alongside Premier League rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, there is still a chance for Arteta to bring some much-needed silverware to the club. Victory in the Europa League would lift the side into next season’s Champions League and as such, a change in manager may not be seen as the best way forward at this stage, especially since the Gunners appear to have found their feet in the Premier League.
Two positive results certainly don’t make a season however and it remains to be seen whether this turnaround represents anything more substantial than two single wins. Nevertheless as we fast approach 2021, things are undoubtedly looking somewhat rosier for Arsenal and under-fire boss Mikel Arteta.
Next Arsenal Manager Odds
- Massimiliano Allegri is favourite to take the reins at the Emirates
- The odds on Thomas Tuchel taking charge have been slashed
- Mikel Arteta is still one of the favourites in the Sack Race market
Thomas Tuchel is the big mover in the ‘Next Arsenal Manager’ betting market, the former Paris Saint Germain boss now a 3/1 punt to be next in charge at the Emirates Stadium following his departure from the French champions. The Ligue One side dispensed with the services of the German after a period of two-and-a-half years, despite the side sitting just a single point away from the top of the league table.
Tuchel has enjoyed much success with PSG during his time in charge with two domestic titles, two French Cups and a League Cup, while he also steered the side to the final of the Champions League. His failure to lead his side to victory in the latter competition may be a big factor in his recent sacking and he has now been linked with a move to North London to take the reins at struggling Premier League side Arsenal.
Favourite to take charge of the Gunners is former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri who is a general 13/5 punt to replace Mikel Arteta should the current Arsenal boss lose his job. Leicester City gaffer Brendan Rodgers is also a 3/1 shot to take the reins at the Emirates Stadium should the position become vacant in the near future.
13/5 – Massimiliano Allegri
3/1 – Thomas Tuchel
3/1 – Brendan Rodgers
10/1 – Patrick Vieira
10/1 – Diego Simeone
10/1 – Rafael Benitez
