Bundesliga Odds – Battle continues for a top-four finish
Nine in a row
Bayern Munich’s dominance of German football shows no sign of abating and they have once again secured the Bundesliga title with room to spare. Die Bayern have now made it nine on the trot while arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund have once again had to settle for second position in the final table, this being their placing in each of the previous two campaigns.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for the reigning German champions and there have been a few slip-ups along the way, however in the end they showed their true class by running away with things and they returned from the enforced break in blistering fashion by reeling off eight straight wins.
Always the Bridesmaid
While Borussia Dortmund have secured second position in the league table, the battle for a top-three finish rages on with three different teams in with a chance of securing Champions League football for next season.
Winner takes all
In reality, third-placed RB Leipzig are all but guaranteed a place at the top table of European football next term given that they sit three points clear of fifth-placed Leverkusen and enjoy a massively superior goal difference, however Borussia Monchengladbach will be looking nervously over their shoulders given that they sit just two points clear of Leverkusen with just a single game left to play.
This is a battle that has gone right down to the wire. Monchengladbach’s far superior goal-difference has given them more room to manoeuvre given that they can afford to draw in their final match at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday afternoon and this is reflected in the bookies’ odds of 1/12 that they do indeed clinch the final top-four berth. Nevertheless if they lose and Leverkusen win, then it will be all over.
Bayer Leverkusen will be going all-out to spoil the party and for their part, they will be desperate to brush aside Mainz 05 this weekend. The bookmakers don’t fancy their chances of pipping Monchengladbach at the post with most firms going around 6/1 that they finish in the top four, however stranger things have happened and we can expect plenty of thrills and spills as the Bundesliga top-four battle draws to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon.
