Nottingham Forest v Millwall Preview & TipsBy glen,
Nottingham Forest supporters are usually an optimistic bunch although any confidence in the season ahead will have been hampered by the fact that their side only just avoided dropping into the third tier at the close of the last campaign. An extremely disappointing season ended with Forest sitting 21st in the league table and manager Mark Warburton will be hoping for better things in 2017/18.
Will Nottingham Forest launch their season by grabbing three points at the expense of Millwall on Friday or will the Lions head home with the spoils in the bag? Millwall will look to continue the momentum following an excellent League One campaign in 2016/17 in which they gained promotion via the play-offs, the side beating Bradford 1-0 in front of a capacity Wembley crowd in May.
The visitors will therefore be in pretty high spirits as they look forward to a season in the Championship and while we don’t envisage the South Londoners making any inroads into the play-off places, we do believe that they will more than hold their own in the second tier and could manage a top-half finish to the season.
They will certainly prove tough opposition for Warburton’s men on Friday evening although the hosts have impressed in their pre-season preparations with consecutive wins against Notts County, Mansfield and Girona as well as a hard-fought draw with Burnley in their last outing. Forest will have a fight on their hands against a confident Millwall side but eventually we believe that the home side will win the day and get their campaign off to the best possible start.
